Be The Leader!

Now a days we come across comments like “our country is like this because of leaders” quite often.  This applies to not just country, but to ever system and field. Then question arises what should be and should not be the qualities of a leader.

A leader should not be interested in power but should understand the feelings of poor.  A leader should not indulge in crime, but he should indulge himself in improving his character. He should not be afraid of life but should be afraid of being a failure in his duties. He should not divide his country or region but stands for integrity. He should not be afraid of challenges but be ready to face the challenges. Leader should not be selfish and greedy but who serves the poor and needy.

You might be thinking, I am just a student/fresher, why should I learn how to be a leader? Alexander the great is just 20 years old when he became a king. Akbar sat on the throne of Delhi at the age of thirteen. Tendulkar played his first Test match against Pakistan in Karachi in 1989 aged just 16. Ekta kapoor entered small screen industry as a teenager and started dominating it by the age of 25. If you want to be a leader start your journey now.

The first thing any leader should do is to Plan. Great leaders analyze and plan and adapt their plans to new circumstances and opportunities. Leadership involves identifying potential problems and solving them before they turn into crisis.

Vision is paramount quality of any great leader. Rajiv Gandhi laid the foundations for IT revolution in India much before anyone ever realized its potential. P.V. Narasimha Rao made us ready to face the challenges of the new millennium. Vision provides direction and without direction, there’s not much point to all the planning you do.

A great leader shares his vision. Inspired by leader’s vision others work for realizing it. A leader should be Commendable and Exemplary. He should lead from the front rather than giving empty talk. He also should be sympathetic towards his team.  People look to the leader during times of uncertainty and unfamiliarity and find faith and security when the leader portrays confidence and a positive character.

Anyone who is willing to make the effort can become a good leader. Now ask yourself, do you have the attitude to make that effort!
