Indian Team Bags Two Silver & Three Bronze Medals at 54th International Mathematics Olympiad

A six member team of students picked up from across the country schools which was sponsored by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), an Institution under the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai has bagged Two Silver & Three Bronze Medals at the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2013 held at Santa Marta, Colombia during July 18-28, 2013. A total of 528 students from 97 countries participated in the prestigious world event. The winners will be falicitated today in Mumbai at the HBCSE, Mumbai.

The Silver Medal winners are: Sangik Saha (Kolkata West Bengal) and Shubham Sinha (New Delhi), while the Bronze Medal winners are Pallav Goyal (Chattisgarh), Pranab Nuti (Hyderabad-Andhra Pradesh) andAnish Prasad Sevekari (Pune-Maharashtra).

The team was led by Prof. C.R. Pranesachar, Mathematical Olympiad Cell, HBCSE, TFIR Bengaluru Dr. Aditi Phadke, Norrowsjee Wadia College Pune and deputy Leader, Prof. C.R. Pranesachar Leader, Dr. V.V.Acharya, Ferguson Coolege Pune (Observer).

The Mathematical Olympiad Programme is organised under the aegis of the National Board for Higher Education (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India.
